Quotes
For as long as I can remember I just wanted to do what was right. I guess I'm not quite sure what that is anymore. And I thought I could throw myself back in and follow orders, serve. It's just not the same.

I've been asleep for 70 years. I think I've had enough rest.

I don't want to kill anyone. I don't like bullies; I don't care where they're from.

You can't justify murder by masking it with a cause.

Sometimes there isn't a way out.

I know this neighborhood. I got beat up in that alley. And that parking lot. And behind that diner.

I'm just a kid from Brooklyn.

We run around, calling ourselves Avengers... yet, when this man comes before us with something to avenge -- a wrong that shrieks to heaven for vengeance -- we turn a deaf ear -- because his cause isn't world-shattering enough for us! We forget that the world can end with a whimper -- as well as with a bang!

People are gonna die, Buck. I can't let that happen

I don't measure people's lives... I save them.

The price of freedom is high. It always has been. And it's a price I'm willing to pay. And if I'm the only one, then so be it. But I'm willing to bet I'm not.

I'm gonna need a rain check on that dance.

I couldn't leave my best girl. Not when she owes me a dance.

Soldiers trust each other. That's what make it an army. Not a bunch of guys running around shooting guns.

There are men laying down their lives. I got no right to do any less than them. That's what you don't understand. This isn't about me

Every time someone tries to stop a war before it starts, innocent people die. Every time.

Then finish it. 'Cause I'm with you 'til the end of the line.

I'm sick of watching people pay for our mistakes.

The American ideal. It's a little tough to find these days, isn't it?

Nick Fury: You know, I read those SSR files. "Greatest Generation"? You guys did some nasty stuff.
Steve Rogers: Yeah, we compromised. Sometimes in ways that made us not sleep so well. But we did it so that people could be free. This isn't freedom. This is fear.
Nick Fury: S.H.I.E.L.D. takes the world as it is, not as we'd like to be. And it's getting damn near past time for you get with that program, Cap.
Steve Rogers: Don't hold your breath.

"The War Was in Color" - Carbon Leaf
I see you've found a box of my things -
Infantries, tanks and smoldering airplane wings.
These old pictures are cool. Tell me some stories
Was it like the old war movies?
Sit down son. Let me fill you in

Where to begin? Let's start with the end
This black and white photo don't capture the skin
From the flash of a gun to a soldier who's done
Trust me grandson
The war was in color

From shipyard to sea, From factory to sky
From rivet to rifle, from boot camp to battle cry
I wore the mask up high on a daylight run
That held my face in its clammy hand
Crawled over coconut logs and corpses in the coral sand

Where to begin? Let's start with the end
This black and white photo don't capture the skin
From the shock of a shell or the memory of smell
If red is for Hell
The war was in color

I held the canvas bag over the railing
The dead released, with the ship still sailing,
Out of our hands and into the swallowing sea
I felt the crossfire stitching up soldiers
Into a blanket of dead, and as the night grows colder
In a window back home, a Blue Star is traded for Gold.

Where to begin? Let's start with the end
This black and white photo don't capture the skin
When metal is churned. And bodies are burned
Victory earned
The War was in color

Now I lay in my grave at age 21
Long before you were born
Before I bore a son
What good did it do?
Well hopefully for you
A world without war
A life full of color

Where to begin? Let's start with the end
This black and white photo never captured my skin
Once it was torn from an enemy thorn
Straight through the core
The war was in color

"Things That Stop You Dreaming" - Passenger
I’ve got no money in my hands or my coat or my pocket
Wont get to space cos I haven’t got a rocket
But I’ve air in my lungs
Eyes in my sockets
And a heart that beats
Like a tap that leaks
In the night when you haven’t got a plumber who can stop it
Jack in a box without a key to lock it
Well this boat may sink but I’m not gonna rock it
Cos the sea doesn’t know my name
Yeah the boat may sink but I’m not gonna rock it
Cos the sea doesn’t know my name

Well if you can’t get what you love
You learn to love the things you’ve got
If you can’t be what you want
You learn to be the things you’re not
If you can’t get what you need
You learn to need the things that stop you dreaming
All the things that stop you dreaming

Well I’ve got no ones word and no bodies promise
Not a lot to show but this book full of sonnets
And my liver may be fucked but my heart is honest
And my word is true
Like the sky is blue
In the summer time when everybody gets on it
Warm our skins and get sunburnt from it
And our eyes shine bright like a sky full of comets that shoot like silver trains
Yeah our eyes shine bright like a sky full of comets that shoot like silver trains

Well if you can’t get what you love
You learn to love the things you’ve got
If you can’t be what you want
You learn to be the things you’re not
If you can’t get what you need
You learn to need the things that stop you dreaming
All the things that stop you dreaming

Well if you can’t get what you love
You learn to love the things you’ve got
If you can’t be what you want
You learn to be the things you’re not
If you can’t get what you need
You learn to need the things that stop you dreaming
All the things that stop you dreaming
All the things that stop you dreaming

"All the Little Lights" - Passenger
We’re born with millions of little lights shining in the dark
And they show us the way
One lights up
Every time we feel love in our hearts
One dies when it moves away

We’re born with millions of little lights shiny in our hearts
And they die along the way
Till we’re old and we’re cold
And lying in the dark
Cos they’ll all burn out one day
They’ll all burn out one day

Character Details

Personality (Aspiration/Drive):
Steve's greatest drive is the drive to do what he believes is his part in the world. He has a deeply ingrained need to do what he believes is right as well as a need to prove himself that he still hasn't fully shaken. It is much less of a driving force than it was in his pre-army days, but Steve is still a scrawny kid almost no one believed in under his new super hero mantle.

Steve has come to realize how much he has become a symbol. He fights to keep true to what that symbol was meant to represent. The suit is a responsibility to the people he fights to protect. It's a promise of what he will do for them and what he must always fight for: Both what is right and the freedom of the people who can't fight for it on their own. While he knows he may be a lot of things, in Steve's mind he is still just a man trying to do the right thing. Not an infallible hero.
Personality (Worldview/Alignment):
Growing up in the Great Depression. The world around him was stuck in hard times, and it was the influences of his youth that did a lot to shape Steve into the man he became. He doesn't take things for granted. He values what he has, and the idea of being wasteful is one that still makes him uncomfortable. He lived in a time when the world around him was going downhill, and rather than let it drag him down it molded Steve into a resilient man who held fast to what he believed in and refused to quit.

When Steve puts his faith in something, he holds onto that faith as firmly as he can. Several times that faith has been shaken, twice in SHIELD, but Steve refused to give up on anything until he was certain there was no other way. He is a clever man, and does not put his beliefs blindly into anything, but his stubborn nature can keep him from realizing the truth quickly enough when those beliefs are poorly placed.

He had a lot of faith in the country he believed America to be, which was largely the country the 1940s media made America out to be. A land of freedom, opportunity, and morality. A country that stands up for the little guy and offers protection and sanctuary to those in need. He believes humans have great potential for good even as he acknowledges the terrible people and events in the world around him. He is not naive and his trust is not blind, but he has been fooled in the past.

For Steve, America is an idea and an ideal, and it is that ideal that he fights for. Not the government, SHIELD or anyone else. He follows orders, like any soldier. But if those orders fail to uphold what he believes in, Steve will question them and go against them.
Personality (Traits):
✪ Man of Value
He was raised on the values and importance of being courteous, respectful, and to help those in need, no matter what the inconvenience to himself may be. These values stuck with Steve. Despite his small size and frail body, Steve never backed down from a bully no matter the odds against him. He knew better than most how the world looked down on the people it considered weak and he would not sit by to watch or listen to anyone treating another person as less than an equal.

Along with this, Steve held a higher respect for women than most men of his time. Part of this developed due to the weak image he knew other people had of him but a strong part of this was the influence of his mother and the changing world he grew up in. The times were seeing a lot of changes in women in the workforce and their presence in the media. Fighting for the recognition and equality they deserved. Steve couldn't sit by when a woman was being treated poorly and it was clear from his interactions with Peggy and other women in the early films that even before waking up in the future Steve acknowledged that women were just as capable as men.

Steve believes firmly in his values and he will not back down. He is more than willing to fight for them, and for everyone else. To his own death, if necessary. He will never stand by and watch when he could be doing something to help. The very idea of having to stay on the sidelines bothered him so much he was willing to risk being thrown in jail just for the chance to fight in the war. To do his duty to protect the people, both of his country, and any under duress from what he perceived as people in the wrong, or bullies.

His values and beliefs are not always right and at times might conflict with what others see as doing the right thing but Steve is true to his values even if it means coming across as the one in the wrong.
✪ Perseverance
It was Steve's refusal to give up that resulted in his eventual success in getting into the army, his being chosen for the super soldier serum, his success in rescuing the 107th and eventually the destruction of HYDRA's plans under both Schmidt and Zola. Steve's determination makes him a valuable asset to anyone who manages to get him on their side. He will keep pushing and fighting until he either succeeds or is killed. And thanks to the Serum, he's quite capable of fighting for what he believes in.
✪ Stubbornness:
Steve will almost never back down, no matter how high the odds are stacked against him. He will keep getting back up until he is no longer physically able. But while sometimes this is an asset, Steve is stubborn to a fault. He sticks to his decisions no matter how difficult to achieve his goal becomes, even if they could kill him.
✪ Temper:
Though he is good at keeping it under control and his temper tends to burn low and cold, it is a strong and persistent temper. Steve is the sort of man who will keep his fists at his side but keep pushing until the damn breaks, and then his temper fuels a dangerous determination that, when paired with the stubborn nature mentioned above, makes Steve truly dangerous. He will do what he believes needs to be done at risk of his own life without hesitation. The more personal it is, the less likely Steve is to wait around for an alternative or for things to get worse. This is the man who charged a hydra base solo; who crashed a ship into the ocean rather than risk more innocent lives and who took control in the alien invasion on Earth and stepped up to fill the leadership role of the Avengers, directing strategy in battle against unpredictable and unknown foes of impossible odds. Making an enemy of Steve Rogers is one of the worst decisions anyone can make, as once he has reason to, he will stop at next to nothing to take his enemies down.

Inventory: dark blue cape & tunic, palm-sized stone, and a steel dagger

Offerings

Memory Loss: To give him something to fight to regain I would like to have Steve forget the faces of his mother, howard, peggy, erskine, phil, his commandos (aside from Bucky) and the other avengers (aside from Wanda). If he needs to forget other memories let me know, but I think these will give him something to fight to regain in the future once he realizes it is possible.
Runic Mark: Ehwaz
Skills and Abilities:
✪ Peak Potential:
Thanks to the Super Soldier serum, Steve's abilities are at the highest peak of human potential. I'll go into minor details about each, but this includes physical strength, stamina, speed, senses, durability, agility, mental function, reflexes, and healing.
Strength: Steve has super human strength. In Steve's case this means the ability to punch weight bags off their hooks, put dents in walls and lift around 800 pounds. When combined with his combat training, reflexes and quick-thinking strategist mind his strength is a part of what makes Steve a force to be reckoned with, but it is just one factor. Steve does rely on his super strength, but he does not rely solely on it, using strategy and, where possible, negotiation to try and solve problems before resorting to force. As a soldier, he is not afraid to get his hands dirty, but Steve went to war to help defend freedom, not 'kill bad guys', and that motivation remains true still.
Stamina: Thanks to a stronger metabolism and less of the toxins in our muscles that wear us out when we exercise, Steve can work and fight longer, faster and harder before he breaks a sweat. He can also hold his breath considerably longer than most humans should.
Speed: Steve has shown a capacity to outrun vehicles (at a speed of around 30 mph) and can, allegedly, run up to 60mph over a short period of time.
Senses: Steve's senses are heightened to the best they can be for a human. He does not have super' senses but his are better than average.
Durability: He was seen to survive a blast from chitauri weapon, get up with relatively minor damage from jumping out of a glass window from around mid-level of a massive structure, a fall that would surely have killed or at least severely hospitalized another man. He also survived being frozen in ice for almost 7 decades and nearly drowning after receiving severe wounds from his fight with the Winter Soldier. Steve is a very durable man and he gets back up as quickly as he is able to every time.
Agility: In addition to being able to Leap tall fences in a single bound, Steve possesses better balance, flexibility and dexterity than an Olympic Gymnast. He can leap 20ft straight up and around 50 yards without a running start.
Enhanced mental ability: The serum didn't just change Steve's body. While it didn't make him a genius it did greatly enhance his mental processes. The speed and efficiency of his thought processes are enhanced allowing him to evaluate situations and make decisions more quickly and efficiently.
Reflexes: Steve's reflexes are also enhanced allowing him to respond to threats and dangers more quickly, and at times even avoid them. He's occasionally even able to dodge bullets when he sees them coming.
Recovery: Because all of Steve's cells are enhanced to peak potential, he metabolizes and repairs faster than a normal human. He can't get drunk from normal alcohol thanks to his metabolism, and wouldn't remain poisoned or sick for long thanks to rapid and efficient cell repair and quick metabolism of foreign bodies.
✪ Combat Training
Besides his basic training in WWII, Steve has trained in boxing and hand to hand combat with Bucky and the rest of the Howling Commandos. He's also really good at using that Shield of his both defensively and as a weapon. He is extremely precise with firearms and projectiles and it is likely he has received further training in his time working with Shield, both through them and through working with his team.
✪ Tactical and Strategic Skill
Steve shows impressive skill in organizing and strategizing, allowing him to look at a situation and find the best way to go at it, or the best use of his resources and people. Thanks to his enhanced mental efficiency, he can also quickly adjust his strategies to reflect changes or problems that arise. During his time with both the SSR and Shield Steve has picked up a variety of military skills including intelligence gathering, demolition, survival/escape tactics, map making/reading, stealth, communication systems and vehicles used in armed forces.
